The Trolley problem

Morality is subjective because whatever is right or wrong is different for each person. This is epitomized by the trolley problem. The scenario is basically a train is going to go in two directions. The first track is lined with 5 people, and the second has one person who is related to you in some way(family or friend). While the answer may seem obvious, I assure you it’s not. This is because there are two competing philosophies. The first is utilitarianism, where a person does what is the best for the most people. The second is deontology, which is you do what is morally right. In this case, utilitarianism wins because the possibility of saving 5 people prompts more of a response than saving one person.
